My husband and I celebrated an early wedding anniversary (and dating monthiversary!) at Disneyland last weekend. In addition to seeing my favorite characters and riding Space Mountain 1000x times, finding safe food was a priority. Disneyland (and Disney World) are wonderful for catering to celiac disease and food allergies so I was excited to try some new (to me) restaurants! We decided to try River Belle Terrace, which we booked on the Disneyland app. Upon booking, I noted that I have celiac disease and the note was attached to my reservation.
Like every sit down restaurant I have ever visited at Disney World & Disneyland, I was asked several times to confirm any food allergies. At check in, once seated, and again, when ordering. I loved how thorough Disney was with ensuring my safety.
I was presented with an allergy friendly menu. Be careful when reading it as it is not just for gluten but also dairy, shellfish, etc. I was happy with my gluten free options and settled on the BBQ pork sandwich on an allergy friendly (gluten free!) bun with a side of mashed potatoes and coleslaw. To keep me safe, my husband also ordered the same thing, but swapped out the coleslaw for veggies. We both loved our meals–the meat was perfectly cooked, the bun was the best gluten free bun I have ever had (and sadly, the staff didn’t know where they got their bun), the coleslaw was flavorful, and most importantly, the meal was prepared with precautions to prevent cross contact. Both sandwiches came out with an allergy wooden stick and when they were delivered to our table, the staff immediately announced gluten free. I really really appreciated Disney’s attention to detail.
Would I return to River Belle Terrace again? Yes, the food was very tasty and I love their knowledge of celiac disease and commitment to providing safe food. Service was fast and the restaurant was very conveniently located near a bunch of rides and shops. I wish the portion sizes were bigger…but I was able to save room for a Mickey shaped ice cream bar! 🙂
**This review solely reflects my own honest opinion. I was neither paid nor given a complimentary meal for my visit here. Please note that kitchen protocols and menus can change at any time. Make sure to speak to the staff at any restaurant before eating to make sure that they can accommodate your dietary restriction.**
