Dessert is my favorite meal of the day (yes, it should be its own meal!) so I was super lucky to stumble upon Leopald’s Ice Cream in Savannah, Georgia. I had pretty much stopped trying to find ice cream that I can enjoy at non-dedicated gluten free ice cream shops–with gluten containing cones and flavors, cross contact is really hard to avoid. However, at Leopald’s, the staff goes the extra mile to ensure that when they say a flavor is gluten free, that it really is.
Leopald’s menu is labeled for which flavors are gluten free and MOST flavors are indeed gluten free! Over 10 flavors! But it gets better…the staff will use clean ice cream scoopers and scoop the flavors from the back from unopened ice cream bins to prevent cross contact with gluten if you let them know you have celiac disease!!
So how good is this ice cream? SO DELICIOUS! I ordered the vanilla chocolate chip–it was very rich and creamy with tons of chocolate chips. I had just eaten lunch or else I would have ordered a larger size and gotten the chocolate chocolate chip in addition to the vanilla chocolate chip.
I’m not the only one who loves Leopald’s. I visited at 2PM on a Monday….Shouldn’t be busy right? WRONG! The line was wrapped around the block. It took me over 30 minutes to get to the front of the line to order. Clearly, Leopald’s is loved by all ❤
