Review of Gluten Free at Monsieur Crepe Cafe, Newcastle, UK

The whole reason we went to the UK in the first place was because my husband, Ryan, was visiting his favorite chocolate factory, The Chocolate Smiths. The owner is incredible and allowed us to tour the facility. Sadly none of the chocolates are celiac safe, but my husband (a non-celiac) is obsessed–if you or a friend can eat gluten, these chocolates are apparently the best! The shop is located in Newcastle, UK, which brought us to visit this small town. We went to London for the majority of the trip as a mini vacation and just took the train up to Newcastle! Super easy!

After arriving in Newcastle earlier than expected, we decided to grab a quick bite to eat. Ryan found this cute crepe place that seemed to be loved by those with celiac/coeliac: Monsieur Crepe Cafe ! This cafe is super popular so be sure to make a reservation or be ready to wait.

Almost of their crepes can be made gluten free! So naturally, Ryan and I each ordered one so I could try both. As for precautions against cross contact with gluten, the gluten free crepe batter is kept separately and away from the regular crepe batter. They use separate utensils AND a separate crepe making surface. Such a treat as most crepe places don’t have separate everything…

Berrylicious!

I ordered the Chocolate Banana Crepe (I added strawberries) and Ryan ordered the Berrylicious (seasonal berries, honey, yogurt and mint). Both were absolutely heavenly, but, being the chocolate fan that I am, I would always ordering some chocolate one! So sweet and perfect. Ryan loved his too. The cafe really fills the crepes too so it was full of flavor and surprisingly filling. As for texture, these are some of the best gluten free crepes I have ever had!

The portions were great and the prices were very reasonable. I enjoyed my visit to Monsieur Crepe and would 100% return if I am ever in Newcastle again!! Appreciative of them for thinking of those of us with celiac with their precautions! ❤ It was a great start of our Newcastle trip!

**Please note that this review solely reflects my own honest opinion. I was neither paid nor given a complimentary meal for my visit here. Also, kitchen protocols and menus can change at any time. Make sure to speak to the staff at any restaurant before eating to make sure that they can accommodate your dietary restriction.**
