If you know me, you know I LOVE desserts and I will jump at any opportunity to eat as many desserts as humanly possible. I’ve had Kirari West Bake Shop on my radar for some time now….but living in the city of LA, it is nearly impossible for me to get all the way down to Redondo Beach during the week with traffic and on weekends, I often have to work. BUT my husband happened to be working one weekend in Redondo Beach right by the bakery and he knew I wanted to try their delicious goodies so he picked me up a whole box of delicious desserts to try!

Kirari West Bake Shop, located at 707 N Pacific Coast Hwy, Redondo Beach, CA, is a dedicated 100% gluten free bakery. It also boasts vegan & corn free options so more customers with dietary restrictions can enjoy! They offer bread, desserts (cakes, custard puffs), sandwiches, french toast, and more. Whether you want a solid brunch, filling lunch, or just treats, Kirari West has you covered!

Unfortunately, my husband was not sure what time he would be done with work so we did not call in our order ahead of time. As you can see from the photo, the bakery was pretty picked over! However, I still wound up with a delicious box of cakes, custard puffs, and 2 different types of bread!

Let’s start off with the desserts…. I LOVE custard puffs, but haven’t had any since I was diagnosed with celiac disease several years ago! And these from Kirari West did not disappoint! They tasted like a much fancier and better quality twinky. I wish I had more. Ugh. Next time I am getting 10+ of them.

Next, I tried the Dark Passion Cake: chocolate mousse + chocolate sponge cake + passion fruit confiture = perfection! I usually don’t go for fruit mixed with chocolate desserts–why try to make such a delicious chocolate healthier?! But this flavor combination was amazing. The cake was light and packed with flavor. I loved chocolate decorations too!
My husband, being a fan, picked me up a White Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake (White Chocolate Mousse, Fresh Strawberries, Sponge Cake with Fresh Whipped Cream) to try. I have never tried a strawberry shortcake in my life, but will never ever turn down the opportunity to eat something with chocolate. This cake was surprisingly equally as good as the Dark Passion Cake–I don’t think I have ever said white chocolate is as good as dark chocolate…that’s a first. Again, it was light and flavorful.

My non-gluten free coworker raved about the bread at Kirari so naturally, I had to try the bread! We tried one sweet one: The Almond Brioche. I hate pieces of nuts in dishes so I picked off all the almonds on top. The bread was a sweet bread with almond cream. It was soft and moist and just the right amount of sweetness. Despite my aversion to nuts, I would order this bread over and over again (and continue to pick off the almonds).

My final bread choice was a unique one: it was a savory bread with olives, sun-dried tomatoes, and cheese. My husband decided to heat this one up and it was a great decision. The bread was delicious!!!
I would 110% order desserts & bread from Kirari West Bake Shop again. The quality of the desserts was incredible. I loved the variety available—standard classics like strawberry shortcake and unique ones like Blue Moon Cheesecake. I am really hoping to be able to visit in person and try their sandwiches!! Next time, I will definitely order in advance for pickup since their bakery is so popular and the items go quickly.
Thank you, Kirari West Bake Shop, for making such delicious SAFE gluten free baked goods for those of us with celiac ! ❤ And thanks to my incredible thoughtful husband for surprising me with this amazing assortment of goodies!
