Gluten Free at Amorino Beverly Hills (Los Angeles area, CA)

If you have been following me for a while now, you probably caught onto the fact that I LOVE gelato. It is my mission in life (okay, slight exaggeration) to try to find all the gelato shops that offer gluten free and eat my weight in gelato there—I’m well on my way to my goal of eating my weight in gelato. Happy to add Amorino Beverly Hills to my list of my favorite gelato spots in the Los Angeles area! Note that Amorino has locations all over the world, but I have only visited the Beverly Hills location since being diagnosed with celiac so this review is specific for this location–always double check with any location (including this one!) as practices can vary and change at any time.

During my study abroad in college, I remember loving Amorino in Paris. This was my pre-celiac days so gluten wasn’t an issue. However, when taking my out-of-town friends to see Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, I was SO excited to see Amorino right in Beverly Hills! But could the accommodate celiac???? I tentatively approached the counter. Knowing that the gelateria was not dedicated gluten free, I was most worried about cross contamination. But my fears were replaced with happiness after speaking with the staff.

A very kind employee personally walked me through an allergen guide to tell me which flavors were gluten free. When I visited all of the flavors were indeed gluten free and that made me so happy!! There are also lots of vegan and dairy free flavors.

She then took care of my order entirely–fewer people handling my order, less chances for mistakes and confusion. She had a separate clean scooper and separate water for rinsing off the scooper. The separate water was so important!!! Usually ice cream places re-dip the used scooper in the same water—yes, it helps rinse off the previous ice cream flavor BUT IT DOESN’T REMOVE GLUTEN!!! So that’s a big no-no for me. However, Amorino, without me even requesting that, automatically grabbed a separate clean bucket that they filled with water. YES!!! She also changed her gloves. She understood celiac and was happy to answer all questions as I watched her scoop my gelato. I loved how comfortable I felt.

Chocolate, different chocolate, and caramel—yes, I love chocolate!!

Amorino is known for their pretty gelato that they scoop into a flower shape. I mentioned how bummed I was that I will never be able to have a flower shape because of gluten (you need a cone to make the petals). Her face lit up as she told me that they do carry gluten free cones, which are kept separately AND are pre-wrapped and sealed to prevent cross contamination. So yes!! I got my flower shaped gelato cone after all. The cone was delicious!!!! They also have gluten free macarons, but they were sadly out of stock that day.

Will I return to Amorino? Definitely!!! It is so convenient when shopping at Rodeo Drive and my friends (and husband!) loved it. The staff truly understood celiac disease and that made for an incredible experience.  Thank you, Amorino, for going out of your way to ensure I could safely enjoy gelato with friends. ❤

**Please note that this review solely reflects my own honest opinion. I was neither paid nor compensated for my visit here. Also, kitchen protocols and menus can change at any time. Make sure to speak to the staff at any restaurant before eating to make sure that they can accommodate your dietary restriction.**
