Review of the 100% Gluten Free Honey Hi (Los Angeles, CA)

This restaurant is one of my favorites for a fast casual safe lunch after playing with puppies for hours at the Dog Cafe LA (yes, I go and play with rescue puppies when I am sad or stressed and this restaurant is right near by so it has become a tradition of ours). Honey Hi, located in Echo Lake area, is a 100% dedicated gluten free restaurant! They only serve breakfast and lunch, but I am blown away by their options. The menu is healthy and boasts that they are gluten free and refined sugar free! They are also local, organic, and get their fruits and veggies from Imperfect Produce, which makes me love them even more. (For those of you who do not know, Imperfect Produce delivers amazing quality fruit/veggies for a cheaper cost than the grocery store…from local farms…just because the fruit isn’t “pretty” AKA too big, too weird shaped, but perfectly delicious). There are also TONS of vegetarian and vegan options too.

Now onto the food…I’ll be honest. I order the same exact thing every single time. Not because there aren’t options, but because I just love the dish so much. This magical dish is the Breakfast Bowl: “sweet potato hash, turmeric poached egg, heritage bacon, farmers market greens, avocado, herbs, sumac, smoked paprika” How delicious does that sound??? And it comes in a vegan option!! My favorite part is the sweet potato hash…. ❤

Feeling like gluten free bread or pancakes? Honey Hi has both! My husband has ordered the gluten free pancakes and they were great too! But I couldn’t part with my breakfast bowl. Oops.

I always make sure to end the brunch with the amazing gluten free peanut butter cookies. I eat probably 4 of them in one sitting and my gluten-eating husband and friends devour them instantly too. Too quickly…so I never manage to get a photo! Sorry.

As for logistics, there isn’t a parking lot so finding street parking is a must. The restaurant itself is super tiny so it is always pretty difficult to find a table. You go up to a counter to order your meal and then try to find seating….usually a table opens up before we get our food, but it is a risk. Be willing to really to carefully watch for a table. But it is totally worth it. I will be back soon!

**Please note that this review solely reflects my own honest opinion. I was neither paid nor compensated for my visit here. Also, kitchen protocols and menus can change at any time. Make sure to speak to the staff at any restaurant before eating to make sure that they can accommodate your dietary restriction.**
