Gluten Free at Rice Manhattan Beach (Los Angeles area)

Continuing on with my reviews of dedicated 100% gluten free restaurants, I want to share the magic that is Rice, located right in Manhattan Beach in the Los Angeles area (just south of LAX). Rice is DEDICATED 100% GLUTEN FREE!! And there are plenty of vegan/vegetarian options for those of us who do not like fish (*cough* me *cough*).

A trip to Rice wouldn’t be complete without at least one appetizer. So far we have tried the portobello mushroom appetizer (portobello mushroom fries with creamy shiso sauce), the vegetable tempura (asparagus, carrot, onion, kabocha, eggplant, shishito, zucchini), and sweet potato (fried japanese sweet potato with sweet mayo). Fried foods are the best when they are safe for me to eat because the fryer is dedicated because the restaurant is dedicated. Doesn’t get much better than that!

Rice is a sushi restaurant featuring all kinds of sushi in creative combinations and options. You won’t find a standard veggie roll here…instead you will find veggie rolls consisting of  asparagus, avocado, cucumber, sweet eggplant, and gluten free tempeh–this is the rainbow vegan sushi roll! And it is my favorite!! Rice offers a ton of specials too that are DELICIOUS! I just love the use of gluten free tempeh—so rare and so wonderful.

Not a fan of sushi? Gluten free ramen & rice pinchos are also popular options!

Dinner isn’t complete without dessert so we always make sure to order dessert. Our favorite dessert is the double chocolate cake which is gluten free and vegan.

Rice is a smaller restaurant so it can get busier at times, but it is so worth the wait. The service is fast and fantastic and the restaurant has a wonderful romantic ambience about it. Although the food is a bit pricier, the quality is a 500/10.  The fact that I can order ANYTHING and not worry about cross contact with gluten is amazing and relaxing. I can share food with everyone and not have to worry. If we lived closer, we would be going here every single Friday night. This is definitely one of our favorite spots & I hope, if you are ever in the area, that you will be able to try it too! ❤

**Please note that this review solely reflects my own honest opinion. I was neither paid nor compensated for my visit here. Also, kitchen protocols and menus can change at any time. Make sure to speak to the staff at any restaurant before eating to make sure that they can accommodate your dietary restriction.**
