Hello gluten free friends! Quickly eating lunch between classes and figured I would share one of my favorite Cville lunch spots. With fall in full swing and winter just around the corner, I have been in the mood for soup constantly. My go-to soup place is Revolutionary Soup.
Revolutionary Soup: (http://revolutionarysoup.com) @ 108 2nd Street SW or 104 14th Street Northwest. Located right on the UVA Corner and downtown pedestrian mall, Rev Soup is home to gluten free soup heaven. The majority of their flavors are gluten free and the flavors rotate daily. The menu is clearly marked for gluten free, which makes deciding what to get very easy. Feel like you are missing out on the bread that comes with the soup? No worries—if you tell the staff you have celiac disease (or any gluten related issue), they will happily give you a large cup of brown rice in place of the bread. Being on a tight grad school budget (how long until I get my PhD so I can get a real job?!), this place is perfect. The portions are large and the prices are extremely reasonable. My medium soup + rice costs less than a medium frappacino at Starbucks would. The flavors are fun and I never run out of options. Personal favorite: Spicy Peanut Tofu Soup (hold the scallions). I eat here at least once a week and can’t recommend it enough! If you would rather have a salad, no problem–they have plenty of gluten free salads. They even have gluten free tacos sometimes! Rev Soup can be very very crowded around lunch time and it’s hard to find seating, but it is definitely worth the trip.
Tomorrow I will be bringing you two more Thai restaurants located in Charlottesville. Stay tuned!
